This accessibility statement applies to waste.slough.gov.uk.
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS NVDA and VoiceOver).

How accessible this website is
We know some parts of the website are not fully accessible:
- some buttons cannot be activated using the space bar, although all can be activated with the Enter key
- hidden elements can interrupt keyboard navigation flow and cause testing tools to falsely flag issues
- error messages during payment processes are not clear enough
- calendar day-of-week headers lack proper semantic markup
- month selection capabilities in the calendar are unintuitive
- tab order navigation in the footer area is not logical
- some visual focus indicators are inconsistent across the site
- form submit buttons are missing on some pages
- button hover and focus states are inconsistent
- visual indicators for mandatory form fields are not present

- using search will refresh the page requiring the user to navigate down to the relevant section

- Month selection capabilities in the calendar are limited and unintuitive for keyboard users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard). This is a third-party component (Syncfusion) limitation that our supplier, Bartec, plan to address by December 2026.
- Users will need to tab to the end of the calendar to highlight the close button for calendar popups. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard). This is a third-party component (Syncfusion) limitation that our supplier, Bartec, hopes will be fixed by the third party provider by December 2026.
- Using the search button on the My Premises page will refresh the page requiring the user to navigate down to the relevant section again. This fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 3.2.2 (On Input) 2.4.7 (Focus Visible) and 2.1.1 (Keyboard). Our supplier, Bartec, hopes to fix this by September 2026.
User interface and error handling
